The channel is good, around the bridge and even up around Canton Beach, Toukley area. You're only a stones throw from Lake Mac also which is good fishing and then you have Terrigal, Avoca and many other rock/beach.

West of the bridge is the wall, a popular blackfishing spot, East of the bridge is great fro prawning, whiting on the flats, a range of fish in the run to the sea where at the mouthjewfish and flathead can be found.
