1976 Land Rover 101 Forward Control Classic Car Auctions
The 101 Forward Control was developed from lessons learned on the earlier Forward Control IIA and IIB Land Rovers which hadn't been particularly successful commercially. Named for its 101″ wheelbase, the 101 Forward Control had a custom designed chassis fitted with Salisbury axles front and back. Power was provided by the all-alloy Rover V8.

The 101 is powered by 3.5L aluminum Rover V8, originally with twin Stromberg carbs. The engine was rated from the factory at 135bhp at 5,000 rpm and 205 lb/ft of torque at 3,000 rpm. Currently, the vehicle is fitted with a single Rochester 2Jet carb. Two sets of original Strombergs and two manifolds are included in the sale.

This 101 Forward Control is a light utility vehicle produced by Land Rover in 1977 for the British Army. Originally unavailable to the public, production took place from 1972 to 1978 and it was primarily produced to meet the Army's requirement for a gun tractor, and was designed to tow a field gun (the L118 Light Gun) with a tonne of ammunition and other equipment in the rear load space.
