The Hunter's Star pattern is a traditional quilt block with a modern twist. This Fat Quarter Shop pattern provides thorough instructions and a video tutorial for four sizes: table runner or lap/twin/queen-sized quilts. Today I share photos of my table runner and enthusiasm for this easy pattern.

scrappy version of a Hunter's Star quilt. I realized when I was finished with it that I had stumbled on a great pattern for a layer cake, so I thought I'd share a quick tutorial. Fabric requirements: Each 8 pointed star in a hunter's star quilt is made up of four smaller blocks. For the quilt I made, which is 64 inches square, I used:

Stitch around on all 4 sides of the charms with a 1/4'' seam. Now, cut diagonally both ways to create 4 triangles on these squares. Then, take each triangle and open them up and press carefully to create 8 HST's. Now comes the trimming! Square each little triangle up so they end up 2 3/4'' square.

Easy Hunter's Star Quilt Pattern
Make your own quilt using the popular hunter's star pattern with this beginner's tutorial. The original hunter's star quilt was designed with diamond shapes, but it's easy to create the same look with easy half-square triangle units. The quilt finishes at about 72 inches by 84 inches.

Big cutter, the Hunters Star Block on Board die, and a free tutorial from Accuquilt. The Hunters Star Quilt die made the cutting of the pieces for this quilt very easy and quick.
