The Peugeit 304 was was clever upward extension of the 204 to create a new mid-sized family car in 1969. It was effectively a 204 centre section with a new nose styled to look like the 504, and a longer tail. It was powered by the new Peugeot 1.3-litre engine, and that made it a more satisfying to own. Like the 204, the 304 was also available.

Mechanically, the 304 is a "modern" car: a transverse engine and front wheel drive. It is easy to drive and very economical! Recently overhauled, the car starts well and drives perfectly. The gears shift well and the braking is efficient. If you are looking for a nice and practical little convertible with a large boot, this little 304 is ideal.

Peugeot revealed the new 304 in 1969, based on the 204 platform but with larger engines and 504-inspired front and rear styling. The 204 stayed on as a more humble cut-price saloon and estate, but coupé and cabriolet were updated to 304 spec from 1970. At this point the 304 Cabriolet was officially imported into the UK with right-hand drive.

PEUGEOT 304 2-door/4-door 4-seater saloon/estate/coupé/cabriolet. Same basic car as 204 with same floorpan, running gear and body shell, but different nose style and larger/more powerful engines. Coupé/cabriolet bodies took over from 204 equivalents in 1970. 304S, with 69bhp, was a 90mph model, but as with 204 most were dull, worthy and reliable.
