Add sugar and beat until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Mix in egg, then mix in molasses until smooth. Sift flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt into a large bowl. Gradually add dry ingredients to the molasses mixture, mixing after each addition until incorporated. Mix in water until smooth.

Glitter. Start by drawing a bubble letter "G" on a piece of tin foil. Carefully cut it out and paste it onto a piece of red card stock paper. Draw little gingerbread men on brown paper and cut them out. Have the kids glue them onto the "cookie sheet." Give them some glitter, glue, and markers to decorate their little gingerbread men cookies!
