The William Heath Davis house is the oldest wooden structure in San Diego. It was shipped from Maine (around South America) as one of ten pre-fabricated homes. It has served as a residence, a military barracks, and a hospital. Its' 9 rooms are each decorated to represent a different period of time in the home's history.

William Heath Davis died penniless in 1909 at the age of 87 while living with his daughter in Hayward, California. Even to the end, he stoutly claimed that he was the true founder of New San Diego, not Horton. Unfortunately, circumstances did not permit him to receive full credit for his efforts.
