My thermarest ridgerest solite is about two years past its prime. I've been looking to buy a new one for about two years but it appears that that won't be happening. The Ridge Rest Solar is slightly thicker than the regular Ridge Rest, so it is a bit more comfortable for side sleepers, but both pads are far less comfortable than inflatable air mattresses or self-inflating pads, unless you like sleeping on a very firm mat.

Likes Slightly thicker foam makes this pad noticeably more comfortable and warmer than the Therm-a-Rest Z-Lite SOL and Ridge Rest SOLite. As with all closed cell pads, the Ridge Rest SOLAR is very durable and does not require tender loving care like most inflatable pads.

Reflective. Inexpensive. Durable. Makes a good pillow. Cons. Ridges catch snow. Bulky. This is one of those iconic pieces of gear that came along and made the world a better place and will never go away. Pros Lightweight Durable Closed-cell Cons None I borrowed this pad from my mother-in-law and used it on a cold weather hiking/camping trip recently.
