In a new teaser trailer - watch it below - Warhammer 40k maker Games Workshop has confirmed fan suspicions that the classic Craftworlds Eldar character, the Avatar of Khaine, is getting a brand new miniature. The new model - whose arrival can't fail to further raise suspicions that a 9th edition Eldar codex is just around the corner - seems drastically larger than the classic 1993.

So far, GW is four for four recently using one prolific artist's work to base their new minis on. With a blurry datasheet and model spotted online recently, we know now the number may be up to five!

Avatar of Khaine old and new comparison. Scale-wise, the new model is very true to the proportions of the Forge World Avatar. The model is standing atop a piece of broken Aeldari masonry, a common theme of the Aeldari range, with flames licking on his body and base. Except for the base piece, the flames are connected with the sculpt and not optional, unless you really go to town with a hobby.

The 7th ed Dark Eldar codex mentions that all Incubi shrines have a statue of Khaine at their center, and the bodies of failed incubi are burned as an offering to Khaine — so there seems to be at least some affinity for Khaine left with the Dark Eldar.
