Provand's Lordship is one of the two oldest houses in Glasgow and a sadly rare survivor of the many old buildings that once occupied the area around and beyond the top of Glasgow's High Street, some of which formed the precinct of Glasgow Cathedral. Today it looks across a very busy road to the superb castle-like building constructed in 1993 which houses the St Mungo Museum of Religious Life.

Glasgow's oldest house will be restored as part of a year-long £1m project. The Provand's Lordship will undergo repairs to its roof, chimneys and down pipes, as well as essential maintenance.

The building is said to be the oldest house in Glasgow. It is set over several stories, accessed via spiral staircases. You start at the top of the house and work downwards. Rooms are sparsely furnished with an eclectic mix of wooden chairs and undated portraits of royalty by unknown artists.
