Planting: For bush beans, plant the seeds about 1-1.5 inches deep, maybe 2 inches deep in the summer for a fall planting. The rows should be 2.5 to 3 feet apart. After the beans are up, thin the plants to 3 to 4 inches apart. For pole beans, plant 1 inch deep and 3 feet apart. Place a stake between each planted seed.

These were new to the garden in 2023 and wowed everyone, both for their stunning colour and for their productivity, out-yielding my other pole beans 5 times over. They were also the longest vines at around 12 ft. They flower and ripen late and for that reason I'd count on these as a fresh shelling bean in in our short growing season, a true end-of-season delicacy. They also cook up beautifully.
