Hanın kapısının üzerinde iki tarihli bir kitabe bulunmaktadır. Bunlardan biri 1659-60, diğeri ise 1894-95 yıllarını göstermektedir.

In the 1670s, the Vezir Han was added to the north side of the Çemberlita≥ Hamamı (Fig. 10).28 Commissioned by Grand Vezir Fazıl Ahmed Pa≥a Köprülüzade — whose family also erected a small complex including a library and a tomb on the south side of the Divan Yolu — the han was, and still is, among the largest in Istanbul.

The Köprülü Mahmud Pasa complex with its mosque, school and tombs are directly opposite the bath and at its sides are the Vezir Han and the old university building. Also in the near vicinity of the bath are the tomb of Sultan Mahmut II and its treasury, the Köprülü Library, the Atik Pasa Mosque and school and the tomb of Ali Baba.
